Answers:
Brasso is a pretty good brass cleaner. You can find it at stores like Wal-Mart or arts-n-craft stores. I don't know anything about painting brass.
brasso is stuff you can use to clean brass. But as far as painting brass im sure regular old silver spray pant and clear coat will be good enough
use a brass cleaner or vinegar.
dont paint brass!
Rub a potato in lemon then rub it on the brass. No joke I know it sounds werid but it works. As far as paint I am not really sure..
If it's REAL brass (not the fake stuff) then use Wrights Brass Polish. Great stuff! And, if it's real brass why would you ever want to paint it??
If you are going to clean the legs, Barkeepers friend will do the job, rinse free of residue which will enable you to paint the surface. Rustoleum makes paint for metals and it comes in a multitude of colors. Since it is going on metal, be certain to seal the new color in with non-yellowing polyurethane for metals so the new paint doesn't scratch off with use.
