Help me redecorate this room...partially.?
Question:http://tinyurl.com/2s8cg6
In the bottom left corner you can see a beige chair (usually in the corner where the Xmas tree was), there is also an antique stereo cabinet to the left of the tv.
I cannot get a new rug, curtains or move my tv. Unfortunately I'm stuck on those issues. We plan on a remodel but for the time being.I need help!
Any ideas? Mantle, pillows, pictures, flowers? Links would be helpful - thanks!
Answers:
well, ur room really dark!
let's see what we can work on it-
i would do as below:
- paint the brick wall with white color
- add throw cushion to your sofa - choose bright color (white would be usefull)
- rug is not an issue, since the concept will be in white
- i would say make a base for your x-mas tree, so there's different height / level in the room
- put some scarf on the black leather chair- to give touch.
- frame up all picture & hang on white brick wall.
(remove the shelves, above the fire place)
arrange nicely all frames surrounding-
that's all i can give u right now - i couldnt see the whole place yet .. might get other ideas..
the mantle has a nice modern touch because of the artsy photos you placed on top of it. i would modernize the mantle even more by raising the photos on a 6 or 7 inch platform painted in a modern color. when you're looking at the fireplace from the front, it will look like the photos are resting on a solid band of color. i would replace the candle thingy with a single skinny item in between the 2 photos (see below link) ... for the couch i would use 2 bed-sized pillows covered in with bright colorful shams (i would pick yellow). the reason i say bed-sized is because if you're taking a nap on the couch it's 100 times more comfy to use a bed-size pillow instead of a square throw pillow. trust me, i've taken enough couch naps to know
My idea would be to paint the wall behind the couch a lighter shade of blue, the blue that I like can be found on the link provided, the last set of colors that are blue and green, the third one down in the first row. Polar Sky, i would also paint the wall that is behind the tv if it is paintable. Painting the room would brighten the room up alot. I would also suggest adding a wooden mantle over the exisisting one. Build a box that would slide over the mantle and paint it to match the exsisting wood in the room or black. That would help the mantle/fireplace stand out a little. Where the chairs will be located by the fireplace I would hang a hanging basket with a spider plant or another type of vine.
