If you couldn't afford both and you needed to update your sofa and your TV, what would you rather buy?

i would rather buy a sofa first. Why would u buy a tv and have no where 2 sit unless you have like confy chairs or furniture then buy a tv!
tv because they are all going to be hdtv's in the near future and you wont be able to get satelitte or cable if you dont have an hdtv
sofa. personally i got rid of my tv about a year ago and never looked back. no more crap tv, i just download the things i want to watch and don't get brainwashed by murdoch.
a tv, well it depends on which one needs to be updated ASAP.

an ugly sofa affects you more (unconciously and conciously) than an outdated tv.
Get the more expensive and most used item first (the sofa). TV's are becoming cheaper as technology progresses.
If you cant buy either, buy a slip cover for the couch which is inexpensive and you would probably have enough money to buy a new t.v. Slip covers come in many colors and it would change the whole look of your couch.

Definitely the SOFA! TVs are so twentieth century. Plus, you can't take a nap or read a book on a TV.
TV. We recently made a gigantic upgrade. We had a 35-inch standard definition TV, but it broke so we were left with a crappy little TV, and I don't even know how big it was. I think it was, like, 17 inches or something, and it always displayed VIDEO in the upper right corner and you couldn't get rid of it. It was pathetic.
We replaced that one with a 50-inch High Definition DLP, and that's what I would have rather had over a new couch.
I'm in the same boat here. But a sofa is easier to update cheaply than a TV. (especially if you have a well-off friend or family member with a decent couch they will give you LOL)
So I plan on getting a good TV and settling with what I've got for a sofa, since it isn't too bad right now. I will probably be able to upgrade it soon since it won't be as much money to do so.
