Which home improvement retailer is better Lowe's or Home Depot?

Question:I've always like Lowe's better. The service is better and it's cleaner. Plus they price match if anyone has a lower price they will beat it by 10% or match it exactly if its a sale. But I was wondering what everyone else thinks... what do people see in Home Depot?

Answers:
I personally like Lowe's better, they offer better customer service, are more friendly, and have better prices. I personally wouldn't walk into a Hope Depot, their stores are dirty, dark, and you can never find help that is knowledgeable.

Home Depot will do the price matching thing too, but in my area of the country, Lowes is far superior to Home Depot.
I like Lowe's. My honey and I recently visited both places and the selection along with the service was remarkably better at Lowe's.

Also, Lowe's was much cleaner.
Lowes
It's a coin flip, but I like H/D's garden center better.
home depot has better color
Lowes seems to be setup better. Plus the Lowes website is seems to be visually better also.
Home Depot, never been to a Lowe's becuase its a 2 hour ride away from my house. I live way up in Maine. Home Depots are evrywhere and there is like 3 Lowes in the entire state.
Home Depot is cheaper, even when Lowes price matches, it's easier to go to Home Depot in the first place. I still prefer Lowes. I am a 24 year old woman with my own house, and when Home depot made me feel like an idiot for asking questions, Lowes people are always friendly and ready to help and give advice. Lowes all the way!
Lowe's is better for innovation and the price? I don't know for sure bu sometimes home depot has on the spot clearance which may sometimes beat Lowe's quality or stock. Price difference is not as important as quality home care products. As you may well know that in this department for sure you get what you pay for and besides what's ten percent these days compared to a headache!
it seems like you've got your mind made up so why ask? however, it depends on who you are & what you want. the depot is primarily for the male shopper who wants what he wants & doesn't care for the "atmosphere". you do pay for that! lowes is a store geared for the female shopper & offers more asthetics like home decor, etc. their service, to me, is the same and depends on which town you shop & when. keep in mind this is america & we excell in choice. goodie goodie for the consumer and for comparison shopping. i personally like the depot because i , like the male shopper, go for what i want, when i want it & don't mind a slightly ruffled store. in fact, a clean & tidy store (while pleasing in nature) might also represent a store that isn't busy. if it isn't busy then maybe people are not shopping there. if they aren't shopping there, then ask yourself , "why". stores, like children, should be busy, in a constant state of flux and growing up before your eyes. if not, it not's healthy or normal, agreed?
both, if home depot doesnt have it then lowes does!!
I usually like Lowes better but we visited both last weekend and Home Depot deff. had the better garden center.
Neither. I own a house built in 1955 and it hasn't been updated much. Whenever I have a fix to do, Lowes and HD do not have the parts I need. I prefer to shop at the locally owned hardware stores. Most of the time, they are cheaper. They also have knowledgable employees and willingly take the time to answer questions in a detailed way. Best of all, the locally owned stores carry the parts I need for my old house!
