I have artex in my hall and stairs on the walls...?

Question:does anybody know if there is a product you can buy to remove this? I have tried chiselling away at it but it will take years!!

Answers:
Skimming over it is a good option, either get a plasterer in or their are products designed specifically for covering artex.

Alternatively, buy/hire a belt sander and get a box full of dust masks and attack it with a vengence!

No just keep at it or better still plaster over it. You should be careful with artex though because before about 1986 it still contained asbestos.
BE VERY CAREFUL..many artex products contain asbestos and should not be removed or touched. Better to skim it over with plaster or one of the plaster-like products now on sale.
Hi A.G. the best way to deal with Artex is to plaster over it, get a professional to do it, plastering is relatively cheap for the effect it can have on a room, and remember, get lots of quotes!
artex comes off with steam. use one of them wallpaper steamers, its very messy and it stinks but it does the job
not to remove but a new product has been brought out to cover artex - saw it advertised - cant remember the name, but if you search the DIY shops should be easy enough to find. hope this helps ?
Paint over the area of artex with a pva glue and water mixture. Then you can replaster it. Its the only way
You need to have it skimmed. A good plasterer can do this for you.
try plastering over it then paint it
