How can I make some cool, cheap changes to my room?

Question:I've been wanting to change my room for awhile now, ever since my best friend changed her room and it looks awesome. The problem is, there's not much I can do because my house is a rental and the landlord won't let us make any changes to the walls and stuff (like painting, etc.). I don't have a lot of money and my room is very small. I would like to have some cool storage solutions, and just generally make my room look BETTER. Any ideas?

First I would get rid of any old book that you aren't using and clean up clutter. Box up anything that is of no use to you and drop it at the Goodwill. Or if there is enough stuff for a yard sale hold one and use the money for your new stuff. Maybe your Mom also has some stuff to contribute to sell to get new stuff for your room. JC Penny has some great stuff for teen rooms...look here:

I think if you make the smaller rectangle of your room like a cool sitting and hanging out area and the bigger section a sleeping place this would be awesome. Go to this page and check out the beaded room divider, kool sheers, hollywood pillows, and waffle weave bedspread. Put your name on the wall with the decorative letters and some of those floor cushions for you and your friends to sit on and hang out would be great! The colors are awesome and would cheer you up everyday! The prices here are good so maybe do some baby sitting and extra chores and ask your mom if she can afford to help you in any way. Just adding some cool colors always helps!

get some material and use it to drape over one of the wlls.
It's a bit hard to answer this because we don't know what colour it is now or what you have. However some ideas: you could prick a theme and buy a bedspread, curtains, cushions and pictures to suit. Curtains are a great way to change a room (and if you keep the old ones you can take the new ones with you) sheers that go to the floor and have a coloured fabric behind it can add a really romantic feeling to the room. Plenty of cushions and pillows on your bed also make you just want to jump in. There are some cool box made of mdf and painted different colours that look great hung on the wall in a line vertical or horizontal. They look cool and work well displaying things. (you could even make them yourself. Theres so much you could do!
I'm assuming your walls are white. That isn't always such a bad thing! You can do a tropical theme. Use turquoise, aqua, sea foam and bright greens, hot pinks and reds, and yellows and oranges when picking out bedding. If you want bright patterned curtains, you can use flat sheets. Just take the end with the large casing, clip the ends, and hang on your curtain rods.,These, along with sheer panels, will make the room airy. You could also use bamboo roll-up blinds. Hang a net on the wall and add shells and colored glass balls. Find pictures of the ocean and put in painted frames. Add a wicker chair with bright pillows, or use bright floor pillows.

Get under-bed storage containers. They hold anything from sweaters to paperwork, and are easily "hidden" under the bed.
I always like to start with a painting..use those colors in the picture and go from there. You might try a folding screen to better seperate the bed area and that area you read in - plants are inexpensive and can "fill up" space - also, inexpensive frames for family and frineds pictures - on that wall you could use drapes to give some color to the room or paint the shelves you have to dress it up a bit...watch for "pieces" that others discard and paint is inexpensive for the results you can get!
