How long does it take for paint to dry?
Question:
Answers:
Times will vary on conditions such as temperature, humidity and ventilation. Generally at 70-75 degrees and 50 pct. humidity:
Latex wall paints: 1 hr. to touch, 4 hours to re-coat, up to two weeks to fully cure (i.e. if you want to wash the walls, or place something against it or on it if shelving)
Oil paints: 4-6 hours to dry, 24 hours to re-coat. Re-coating oil too quickly can result in what is called solvent trapping as the solvents continue to evaporate and are trapped by the top layer resulting in "fish eyes", little voids or pits in the paint that are caused by the solvents forcing themselves through the top layer.
This is fairly general as different paints have different guidlines.
That depends on which type you use. Oil base paint takes the longest.
If it's latex an hour or two. If it's water base an hour to be safe, but if it is oil base figure on a day or two.
long time, have fun!
for easy to dry paint about 15 mints for normal oil pain apx 30 to 45 mints
Latex is water based and dries in an hour to re coat they vary, oil will take 2 to 4 hrs to dry and 24 hrs to recoat and when I say dry it's to touch and depends on humidity. All paints don't fully dry or cure from 2 wks to 30 days and some of these answers you've been getting are off the wall, Good luck Les the painter
too broad of a question - LOL
to get a paint film to dry quickly, regardless of vehicle or resin, just keep dry air flowing and temperatures moderate.
ideal interior conditions -
latex acrylics in pastel colors ~ 45 minutes dry to the touch, smell will linger for 3 days or so
