What is the best way to remove linoleum?
Question:Hubby and I just bought a house that needs work. The 60's kitchen has linoleum (yes, on the walls!) below a chair rail and wallpaper above the chair rail. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove linoleum off of the wall without damaging the wall too severely? Thanks!

You might be better off putting beadboard or other wood wainscoting over the linoleum with a chair rail on top. I think you'll damage the wall if you remove it.
Wow, i have NEVER heard of that, but it doesn't surprise me. If the linoleum is glued to sheet rock you can forget it. You won't get it off without tearing up the drywall. Check to see if it's just stapled around the edges and cross your fingers.
If it's glued I'd just go over it with some wainscoting.
Mechanical removal is the only option. Nothing disolves vinyl. Try scrapers of various types, the long kind with a big knob on top gives good leverage. Try peeling a corner and pulling it off too, probably won't work though.
