Does anyone know why urinals are a rarity in homes?

Question:A urinal is specially designed to be used by men and boys, so why are they not fitted in homes and only found in public places??

Answers:
Probably because women do most of the decorating, and they don't want to clean a urinal and a toilet too. Or maybe because a toilet can be used by both and a urinal cannot?

Because dumping in an urinal is an unpleasant experience.
because people pi*s on the floor ever smelt a pub toilet
because very few homes were built with the floor space to accommodate both a urinal and a toilet, as you can't have a urinal and NO toilet, but you can have a toilet and no urinal. besides, a urinal is a toilet with the seat up :)
Same reason bidets arent fitted in many homes, because they are disgusting and a haven for germs and bacteria.
Just stick to a toilet (with a wide bowl for crappy aimers and large asses)
I dont know...but I do know that Wrigley Field is the world's LARGEST urinal.
cos they stink - and also boys need to be tained to use the real things at home
While they are eminently logical for water conservation, my guess is that developers don't want to make bathrooms any bigger (/expensive) than the already are. That and urinals just aren't what typical Americans want. (And don't get me started about Americans and their sense of conformist "normality"!)
because they are unhygienic
Because urinal flush valves are designed for higher water pressures than found in most homes.

If you've noticed that the vast majority of commercial toilets and all urinals (except now for the waterless ones) have flush valves, and the majority of home toilets are tank type.

Well the valve is there so you don't have to have a tank. Tanks keep getting broken in commercial buildings. But to avoid the tank, you need higher water pressure.

If you had an old house, in an old neighborhood, you probably don't have enough pressure to install a urinal. Newer developments and houses have higher city water pressures.
speak for yourself
because it's easier and less expensive to have a regular toilet, which can be used to pee and poo in by men, women, children, and sometimes dogs, cats.
regular toilets flush well, so you feel satisfied the waste has gone down..down ..down and away. and close the lid. bye bye.

urinals stink. that's the main reason to not have one.
no lid. not a powerful flush. so pooing would be well, disgusting, and not go down.
children, women, cats and dogs, other trainable pets can't use them.
because they are disgusting when you walk past a mens toilet in a pub it pongs i think they should just have toilets in pubs no urinals men cope with it at home so why not in a pub?
Because urinals were designed to cope with a large amount of men using them day in day out. I don't think they're the most sanitary solution but they do the job. Men too need to sit sometimes.
Well you can't sh*t in a urinal, much funner to piss in though, It'd be cool to have 1
every one has said what i was gonna say! but they look unsightly for a start and not all houses are occupied by men, its all girls in ours! i thhink you would have to do what sharon osborne did and get one installed as ossie was a bad aim!!
As a woman, I wouldn't want a urinal in my home, ta very much like, a loo provides the best option for all, men can stand and sit, women can sit.. both can use, therefore more practical...
