How does a sliding window latch work?

Question:

Answers:
Really depends on the age and brand of unit. But typically most are nothing more than a modified wedge that has been formed into a radius that can be spun into a receiveing catch. The modification allow the sash to be drawn tightly against the other sash and also against the jamb insureing a proper seal.
