Laminate vs Hardwood Floors with Pets?
Question:Which is better, laminate or wood floors, when you have two dogs who sometimes have urine accidents inside? I know laminate is good for scratches, and hardwood doesn't hold up to wetness. We can't afford to spend alot on the flooring ($1500 for 650 sq and include installation). Please answer if you work with these floors or you have personal experience with pets and laminate vs. hardwood.

I installed laminate 2 years ago and my accident prone dog has yet to wet on it, but I would suggest you buy extra to replace any that your dogs might ruin. Laminate would surely be better than hardwood with pets, but can still be ruined if left wet for long.
If you want a durable floor that stands up to moisture, put down tile.
Definitely laminate for a household like yours- it's cheaper, easy to install, and very easy to clean. Hope this helps!
I have a cat, dog and 3 kids and I would NOT trade my laminate flooring for the world. They also have this new type of flooring that I installed myself (not bad for a girl :) It is in six inch by 3 foot strips and it is a true floating floor. Meaning that it only sticks to itself. It comes in 4 different wood colors and it's TOTALLY waterproof!

At just over $2 per square foot including installation, you are not going to get much quality. The dog accidents will need to be attended to quickly. You will probably be going laminate for the price you want to spend.
if tile is an option i would go for that, if you are concerned about the cold floor on your bare feet you can get a thing to put down before laying your tile to keep the floor nice and warm
i think hardwood is much nicer andd stand up to wear much better and you can get these things from pet shops, there like a big square nappy that you put on the ground where the dog usually goes pee pee and it soaks it up very well, i used to get them in Argos in ireland and England, if you live in America or something im sure you can get them on the internet!

Definetely go with a floating laminate floor. It is easy to install so you will save on installation costs. and it will hold up to moisture very well.
You should do it yourself it is very easy, the only skill required is to measure and cut a straight line.

If there is a pet accident on most any floor, you will have a challenge. The acid in the urine will etch and penetrate the wood and you'll be able to see where it was. Fast clean up is a requirement. Also, when clenaing. be careful because sometimes the pet urine cleaners will also mark the floor finish. One we used took the finish off. PS, tile is nice.
Definitely get the laminate flooring. If you are referring to pet training or paper training a puppy, hard wood flooring will absorb urine. I still have a spot in my front door way and it will not come out. If you may have some suggestions.
