Best way to Paint Walls from RED back to WHITE?

Question:Hi! I live in an apt. where I painted the walls red and purple - what's the best way to paint them back to white? It doesn't have to be the best quality, or last long - but the process has to be FAST. Could I use green primer to counter the dark shade? I just want my security deposit back :) Thanks!

Answers:
You need to get Kilz Primer, in the Blue and White can. Don't get the Red and White can, that's oil base, and will make more of a mess for you I'm afraid. The Blue and White can is Water Base. Paint your walls with the primer and let dry.Compleatley dry. Than get a good quality Flat White Paint. Be sure it doesn't say ,white tint base on the can. That means that pigment needs to be added to it. You might have to do two coats, but with the Kilz and the good quality white paint, you really shouldn't need to. And nothing is fast. Nothing! Bye and good luck

Use a Primer first, may need 2 coats. Possibly may still need 2 coats of the white paint as well.
You will have to buy a primer, use it. And then apply your coats of white paint. Yeah, this is always a big problem in apartments. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot for help. They might suggest you use Kilz instead of a primer. Go ask the experts. Or at least people that think they are experts.
I don't really care what other have written here for you because I have spoken with professional painters about this before being that red is my favorite color, etc.

Use a light mauve or maroon color. Like a dark or medium pink, over the colors, then paint white over that after it dries completely.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is using gray as a primer, or even white, because that only makes it darker and worse.
Mark my words! Been there, done that myself!

Good luck!
kilz. thick. latex or oil won't matter. oil will cover better, but smell bad. ventilate, and paint, paint, paint. My brother once used enamel red on a wall, it took 7 coats to cover.
better paint will cover better, but cost more. cheap paint is like cheap brushes or cheap rollers, they get their stuff in the paint. Cheap won't cover.
Good luck. cudda been worse, black is worse...
