My house is about 1,00 square foot, how much to build a second story?

Question:I have an addition in the back that adds about 200 square foot. So the house use to be around 800 square feet. How much would it be to build a second story? We are not hiring a contractor since my husband is one. Please help!!

Answers:
It will cost you roughly about $72.00 a square foot. My husband builds tree houses in California, they are about 600 square feet his cost is about $53,200 and they sell them for no joking $675,000.00 starting prices. Good luck with the second story may I suggest a laundry room upstairs. I never understood why the laundry room was downstairs, must be a man thing thinking if we run up and down stairs all day doing laundry we would keep our figures. Instead we are to tired from doing laundry to enjoy it. We burn alot more calories between the sheets then washing the sheets. Just a little helpful hint from one wife to another.

the same is best.
your husband should know! :-)

well, there are factors that you only need to multiply the area with in order to get an estimated cost.
I could really help you on this but our rates per square meter here (i'm in asia) is different. The cost multiplier or the factor per sqft depends on the going on rate of construction in your place.

factors : area of second floor and system of construction (wood/concrete/steel/modular panels/etc) and going rate per square foot in your area (construction people like engineers might have an idea of this)
