Need help with colors in my new family room couch is tan, carpet is beige what colors should i do walls?
Question:i want to do something with one wall that is bold like a wine color but what should i paint the rest of the walls and what color should i go with for accent pillows
Answers:
If the lighting is bright, I would go with a warm sage color. Accents could range with your color choices.
If the room is dark, I would keep my color in between the carpet and the couch! This would allow the wine colored wall without making the room too dark and appear too small!
Best of luck!!
red for the walls! and pillows gold
why not try a dark brown wall and do the rest in mushroom, all earthy colours.
Red and a sort of pale pink, best think about it.bestwishes,Shane.c.
Morroccan red with same coloured cushions with beige bead embellishments and large vase of the same colour with artifical flowers in beige and a small ferny plant on the floor somewhere.
you can either do a really pretty green or even a burgandy color on the walls, then dress it up with some beautiful pictures..once you pick the color of the walls and photos then you can incorporate the accent pillows, pick colors that go with the pictures to make it look nice.. as for photos you should get some nature photos, anything natural like animals for example make the room feel more serene and give that home feeling.. here is where i get all my pictures from they make a nice addition to a room

so u want to do wine. I think that would go great w/ u'r tan couch & beige carpet. Is there anthr color mayb going on in u'r FR that u like other than wine? How about brown/golds/deep green/navy/...
may i ask y jst one wall? Does that mean u want that wall wine & the rest in a neutral color? So this is a FR... where we will b... watching tv?..playin games?...kinda what? Or is this more like u'r LR/FR? think about that. What will u exactly b using it for.
So u use it for a FR where u watch TV... then mayb go w/ some pop... do some stripes on the wall. Say everyother or add a skinny one in w/ a 3rd color. Mayb 2 walls.. adjacent 2 ea other or opposite. Or mayb horiz. around the room. Start w/ navy as u'r bttm. stripe then do the upper part in wine but in the middle or slightly higher.. or both.. tape off & paint a tan/beige that kinda mimicks the couch color. That will make it fun but classy as well.
U can always jst use wine as u'r top color & use a navy/brown as u'r bttm color then put molding/border/stencil around the room.
Then go from those colors including u'r tan & find either pillows w/ 1 or all those colors in for u'r couch & for the floor. Or u can get solid ones along w/ the fabric. Can u sew or iron? Then go to the fabric store clearance bin & find something u like & either sew covers for old pillows or pillows p/u at the store or fabric store or thrift store or iron the covers out of STITCH WITCHERY. that will work as well.
U can even put that fabric in frames to go on u'r wall for design. Or make a pin up board so u can put photos or notes on it.
R u creative... then do some paintin on canvas & put up on u'r wall. It doesn't matter if it's abstract or jst colors thrown together or if u pick u'r rm to b resemble the feel of outdoors.. then trees... put some bark on them as a abstract.
Be creative! Have fun!
magnolia would blend in nicely
Hi Rachele...
your tan couch and beige rug are perfect 4 many colors cos they're neutrals... so wine i great... if u use it on one wall then u have many options for the rest of the wall:
- you can use a lighter tint and a duller degree of the wine color... this will not create too much contrast, and a very warm feeling in the room...
- if u like contrast, however, and u want the wine wall to stand out then use biege for the walls... the wine wall may become the focal point of the room... try to balance that with nice accessories opposite to it without overpowering it... actually you should enhance yr focal point with a nice picture or wall fixture... and if it's behind a sofa, then so creative things with the sofa, like nice pillows or a throw cloth...
- if u decide to keep these colors in the room only u'll get a sophisticated look, but then vary textures and patterns to create some interest... but if u go for more colors the u have a full range: blues, some greens, or maybe violets... choose yr favorite...
- pillows...! they should certainly pick up the wine color of the wall to create harmony... and other colors if existant.
- but whatever u do don't put too much wine on the wall... yr room will not b secure then... hahaha!
best of luck, Rachele... i hope i helped!
Call me straight laced, but I'd still lap the walls with magnolia or similar, it generates a bright and airy feel to even a dark room.
It's no coincidence that new homes are all painted magnolia.
I think you should stay in that colour range
