Would a regular chalk board hold up outside in the elements?
Question:I want to put one in my children's garden.

Not sure about a regular chalk board but i don't think so. The back of a slate chalkboard is particle board and it will warp in the elements. My children had a mini play chalkboard and it warped in the rain and the heat.
its a piece of slate(stone)it will be fine

another thing to use would be, paint... they make a chalk board paint if you have a near by wall you might want to try and just paint a portion for them to use.
They have chalk board paint which would probably hold up better. You can just get particle board, wood, whatever...and paint it on. Let it dry and you have a chalk board! :) ...
If you varnish (clear) all legs & back sides etc & just leave the front were you chalk it will be fine. Make sure it is out doors varnish though as there are a lot of people who think there is no difference.
