Get some interior design magazines (there are loads to choose from) and make a 'mood board' by cutting out pics you really like and arranging them on a big piece of paper. It should help you narrow down what you really like and gives you a place to start designing your room. You can then source wallpaper, paint etc and have fun actually doing it up.

Well i suggest that watching 60 minute makeover would give you some good ideas! :P You could always look around ikea or other home stores like that as they often have bedrooms set up in their showrooms in lots of different styles.
HGTV.com have tons of virtual walkthroughs on all kinds of rooms. Great for ideas, but first find a color you'd like then go from there.
