Someone give me some advice on study room lighting?

Question:My study room is well-lit by sunlight coming in from the windows in the day. However, it tends to become quite dark after night has fallen. I have two spotlight lamps on opposite sides of the room which shine upward. I am currently trying to find a way to increase light in my room and have stumbled upon the following. Please kindly advise. Do note that I cannot use a wall-mounted light as my table is actually against windows (hence the sunlight in the day but darkness in the night)

If I were to use a hanging light, is it all right for me to position it right above my desk? Is it true that fluorescent lighting actually gives headaches? When using a hanging light, how should I position it to actually reduce glare and also to prevent the feeling whereby I can notice some bright at the top of my eyes?

If I were to use a desk lamp, how do I do things to light up my entire table. I have quite a long working desk and don't like to see a bright spot surrounded by darkness.

Answers:
I think positioning either a hanging light above your desk would work well and I don't think u'd need a desk lamp. I study in my apt's dining area w/a computer desk and office chair and also have a 3 piece dinnete and a ceiling fan/w 3 light fixtures and there are heating and a/c vents directly above me it makes for a good study and eating area and also have a rolling file holder and shredder and a plastic mat

if you have over head lighting, you will have a shadow.
Go to an office store and get desk lamps that have both kinds of light in one fixture. They attach to the desk with a clamp, have a florescent bulb and a regular bulb in the head. It is on an arm and can be positioned where you need it.
