Black and white checkered floor in my room - need help with ideas!?
Question:I would like to get some ideas on what colors I could use as an accent wall for a bedroom with this tile. I was thinking of a lime green, white moulding, and painting a mural/motif of some sort, like a sillouette of a piece of coral, in a teal.
But... this may be *WAY* too much for a bedroom and I don't want the colors to clash or have anything *too* weird that it looks like a college dorm room. I'd like to keep it minimalist and modern.
HELP!
Answers:
The floor sounds really cool. I also love the idea of lime green. However, the moulding being white will make the floor look darker. The moulding being black will make the floor look lighter.
I would say that you should go with your idea of a mural on one wall and stick to the design being in teal. Then you can make the moulding teal, as well. That way there is color added to the room and the floor remains individual and won't clash or contrast with any other colors.
You should make one wall have lots of shelves, however. Black or white (or both mixed in) will bring out the floor and also provide a nice touch to the room's overall look. It will combine all the colors, as well.
A bedset is also important in bringing the room together. If you've picked one already, then you don't need to worry. If you need one, then here are some I'd suggest (and even if you already have one, take a look at some of the pillow and extra blankets):

I hope you get some good ideas from this and that this was slightly helpful if at all. I know that when I did my room in lime green, black, and dark magenta, i worried that the colors wouldn't work out. Good luck!
