How many coats of plaster required?

Question:Hi,
I am wondering how many coats of plaster are required for a room. Specifically, after the scratch coat (hardwall of bonding) should I expect the plasterer to put on two coats of multifinish? Also, what about when skimming over a boarded ceiling? Should that have two coats as well? Thanks very much.
