Is it better to have only blinds or only curtains?

Question:or is it good to put both up?

Answers:
They work fine together. The decision should be a combination of needs and aesthetics. Blinds are easy to adjust to block or allow light in, depending on the decor and the design of the blinds (roman blinds, fabric or border or just a clean contemporary look with thin slats). Curtains will soften the look, and if plain slat blinds are used, can help tie the window back to the color scheme of the room using a color(s) that is part of the room's whole color palette.

Curtains could also be used to trick the eye, such as, if you hang the rod close to the ceiling it will make it appear as if the window actually starts higher up. Or if you hang the curtains so they extend to both sides, will trick the eye to thinking the window is wider than it really is and its just partially covered with curtains.

If your room is really small you'll want to keep whatever you do really simple or it will overpower the room.

curtains! love them
I like curtains only. You can easily clean them in washing machine. I'd pick the sheer for privacy but still have the light come through. I find blinds take more time to clean. Putting both of them will require you to have more cleaning to do.
#2 took my answer exactly.

In my kitchen, I have white mini blinds with a white cotton valance over them. In the rest of my house, I have curtains. I like the way the room looks with light shining through the colors of the curtains.
It is ok for you to have your windows any way you like!
curtains.
Both work well, preferable curtains in living/dinning room. Stay away from busy designs.
I have both in my home ; in every window.
