Planning to change my old tiles and was just started to take it off using a chisel and a hammer?


Question:to find out that only the tiles is coming off and the old cement was still in there and intact so is it ok if i'll just install the new tiles without taking out the old cement and do u know some way of wrecking the old tiles co'z i think it will tke me lots of time for this.pls. help

Go to your local rental store and get a chipping hammer with a chisel bit. This will make the job go much faster.


Here are two good sites to answer your question. One uses a glass cutter to help weaken the tile for removal.

I imagine you want to remove all the old cement or your tile may not set correctly.
Take the drywall off. Right down to the studs. Since you are retiling, you don't have to worry about having a perfect drywall job when you put the new pieces up.
