Best way to paint a black iron bed red?

Question:

Answers:
Give it a good cleaning so there isn't any dust or gunk on it to keep the paint from sticking. Rust-O-leum spray enamel paint works really well and holds up. Even though it's a bed and will be inside, paint for outside use is extra durable to be weather resistant.
Spray paint gives you a smoother overall coat, but you will find that it won't get EVERYWHERE, so you may have to get the tiny crevises with a brush. You get a cleaner result if you do the brush work first, then spray.

I would think you'd paint it white to cover the black up then paint it red.

Kinda like bleaching your hair.
I painted an old brown iron bed pink with gold flecks.
I got the paint in a spray can at Wal Mart; I didn*t sand, or prime it or anything like they say yu should. Mine has held up for 15 years in the basement.
It is that kind that says something like Stone Fleck or on that order..Just go to Wal Mart and look around at the spray can stuff.
The best paint substance to use, is the spray paint cans. They adhere to the iron better, than paint you brush on.
just spray paint it with Rustoleum (not sure how to spell this) in a shade of red that you like. it may cost more than other spray paints but it is actually for metal & is very durable & will last a long time.(you shouldn't need to prime it but may have to give it 2 light coats) Good Luck!
