How can you embelish old lampshades?

Question:I can't find lampshades that fits lamps that I love, but over time the lampshades got dirty and stained. Any tips on how I could give them a second life? What material could be used so there is no case of fire hazzard?

Thanks a bunch :)

Answers:
depending on the way the shade is made you could actually use the old frame of the shade and start over with just the metal frame... if you arent that handy you can use a spray adhesive and attach paper over what you have it depends on what your base is if its fabric paper or something else... a picture might help for future refrence...

my sister got a paper bag crumpled it up and pasted the pieces onto a lamp shade its really inexpensive and it gave the lamp a really cool moroccan look

but if thats not the style you want you can find all kinds of really pretty decorative paper at a craft store like michaels
