A fully stocked bar with draft beer tap, And we'll call it the mother-inlaw relief station.
Comfort is essential when decorating any room. The paint color has to be something that cordinates with all your furniture and also is a color that you can look at everyday and love it. Even the little decorations like candles and pillows etc have to be something that you are comfortable with.
Well firstly and most importantly you should have a sofa or sofas that you absolutely love and that you can coordinate other things good with, that has been my biggest mistake in decorating, i bought a sofa on impulse that is seafoam green micro-suede and decorating around it has been very difficult, first of all it's too light of a shade to have around two toddlers and secondly, yea, it's gorgeous but it is awfully uncomfortable, so that is the most important part of decorating your living room. Also, you don't want to over do it, you want to add your style, your personality and your personal touch to the space so that is comforting and relaxing for your self, but not too much so that it is clutter. Not too much furniture also, a coffee table, maybe a couple of side tables, your entertainment center maybe a shelf or two to go along with the sofas. If it isn't used and doesn't have a purpose, throw it out. Well, good luck and have fun. : )
I would say at least two walls and some sort of floor .
Comfortable furniture that you can arrange to make conversation areas. At least one couch, and some comfy chairs, with small end tables or a central coffee table to set drinks/magazines on. Good lighting, that you can dim or brighten. Colors that are pleasing to you, and won't go out of style too soon. If you paint the walls neutral colors, you can get furniture to match easily. Add color with throw pillows and other accents - window coverings, artwork, and maybe an area rug (if you don't have wall-to-wall, or don't want to replace the existing carpet). Design your room around what you plan to use it for: entertaining? relaxing and watching movies with the family? reading in a cozy chair with your cat on your lap?
Artwork (doesn't have to be expensive) and a plant or two. Tall, silk plants in the corners (like you frequently see in model homes) really look nice. Use the colors from the art for ideas to paint the walls. Keep it light.
