Need some painting ideas...help!?
Question:I am decorating a new room and I was thinking of painting it blue. Anyone have any cool ideas or designs you could tell me about? Thanks! Any tips would help!

A blue room is going to feel very cool, or even cold, in the winter. I'd paint it a neutral (I'm partial to the shade of unbleached muslin) and then add blue curtains, throw pillows and other accents. If you decide you want a different color scheme, all you need to do is switch the curtains and other stuff - much easier than repainting.
Use navy blue (satin finish) on the bottom portion of the walls, then wainscoting (sharp white semi gloss) or border print wallpaper and a peach or cream (satin finish) top with sharp white (flat finish) ceiling.
Blue is a hard colour to work with. Usually I have used pale beige, white, and colours that contast lightly.Remember a dark colour on walls will darken room, and make it look smaller.Check out Martha stewart.com and see what they can show you.
Many mainstream paint brands have virtual paint tools that allow you to see the paint color on the walls. It's good as a starting point to get an idea of the impact the color will have, but it's always more intense in real life.
Paints tend to be organized by color intensity, such as pure, misted, muted, shaded, etc. Pure colors can come off very intense and almost suitable for elementary schools if not chosen carefully. The designer shades you normally see are usually in the muted/shaded range, with the color toned down enough so you won't be in for a color shock every time you enter the room.
It's best to get sample, if possible, and paint some posterboard so you can see the actual shade in your room. Let the natural light and light fixtures influence the shade in your room so you can see if it's going to work.
Do the whole room in a light blue including the ceiling, then using white put clouds on the ceiling going onto the yop foot or so of the walls in places
