Can i paint over wall paper?
Question:i really don't want to...how can you remove it eaisly from the wall? its STUCK on there! i have relatives visiting in two weeks! HELP!
Answers:
I wouldn't paint over it. I recommend using either steam or contacting your local Lowe's or Home Depot for suggestions.
I used a combination of fabric softener and water to remove wallpaper boarder from my last apartment. I don't know that it will work on a full wall of wall paper though.
Lol no, dn't do it! You will regret it in the future.
use steam
Yes but DON'T!! It bubbles up and looks nasty (in most cases). Go to home depot they will give you a spray that works great! Forgot the name of it...sorry.
If you paint over the wallpaper the seams will really show up. We had the same problem. No matter what we tried the wallpaper would not come off. We ended up putting a light coat of plaster over the wallpaper and sealing and painting the plaster. It turned out very well.
Get a steamer, it will losen up the glue so you can peal it off. You will need a putty knife to help peel. Go to HGTV.com I believe there is a lot of info there.
as for painting, you need to primer it first and keep in mind you will still see any texture that the paper has in it and the seems may also be noticeable. Think about using a painting technique, this may help distract the eye from any thing that may be more noticeable on a smooth flat wall of one color.
To remove wallpaper easily, you can do either of these:
1. Use a towel and a pail of hot water and soak the wallpaper and use a putty knife or any scraper to remove it.
2. You can use a hair blower and heat it up until the glue lets go and scrap it.
you can also go to your nearest hardware or paint supply store and ask for some wallpaper remover. I always use the hot water method and it just peels away in long strips. I hope this helps and good luck!
I used VERY cheap fabric softener from like the dollar store and put it in a spray bottle and sprayed it all over and saturated teh paper I let it sit for a minute and then i cld peel it off. Also, I bought TSP powder and mixed it with water after I peeled the paper I used the TSP and it got rid of the rest of the glue on the walls.
If you are in a hurry paint over it until you have the time to take it down. You may not be able to remove it if it is applied to the sheetrock. If you try to remove it then, you will have a mess. It will pull the face of the sheetrock off and then you will have to mud over the whole room or pay for someone else to do it. If going to paint over it, make sure all seams and corners are still glued so it won't look like your paint is peeling. Good luck and enjoy your company!!
Use Vinegar and hot water, apply with a paint roller to remove the wall paper,
You can simply use a wet sponge and wipe down the wall paper. This will soften it up to an extent to where you can peal it off easier. It may come off in pieces, but without spending any money it's a pretty good way to go.
we did it, but we spay texture over it first, used a knock down, then prime it, after that then painted it , been 4 years now and still looks new
