Glitter paint for my walls?
Question:If I wanted to paint my bedroom red with a red glitter topcoat, how would I do this? Does anyone know if they even make glitter wall paint? Where could I buy it? Do you think I could just dump a whole bunch of red glitter in a clear topcoat and paint the wall like that?

i've used it, i loved it. (once i figured out the best way to use it.) it's a clear coat that you would put over red paint. you have to use the glaze extender with it as well... i will say it's much more expensive than the stuff they are talking about at walmart.

Go to the Home Depot or Sherman Williams web sites I'm sure they can help
dump glitter into the top coat and stir for 2 min. It'll look awsome for a really cool afect that's suttle use red glitter.
Oh, gosh, I wouldn't do that to the walls. Sure, go paint your walls red, but putting glitter on the walls are just asking for trouble. What are you going to do if the glitter doesn't come off? You'll have bits of junk on your walls to paint over. On second thought, maybe there is some sort of way to do this, but please before you attempt it contact a paint store, Sherwin Williams or some place that deals specifically with paint to see if it can be done. I ruined a wall once by putting glue all over it. I'd hate to see you ruin your walls.
I bought this glitter glaze at wal mart, it is for walls wallpaper and furniture. It is called Gliterglaze by Polyvine, it goes on milky but dries clear, it looked cool! You have to do your red 1st then the glitter.
It will NOT work if you mix glitter in w/ paint, it will not shine through! Now if you wanted to mix it in a clear coat you could do that but this is easier. it come in a 1 quart ant covers 40 to 80 (it says) sq ft, I haven't used all mine yet. It was under 10 dollars.
we did this for my foster daughter and it looked great. Lowes has a sparkle add in ( I think it was two dollars) and we had them add two packets. It really made the walls shimmer. And it is really easy to paint over~ just sand the walls down once and the new paint looks fine.. no mess and no bleedthru. Have fun!!
oh ps... the walls we painted with the glitter were a deep colbalt blue
I love red, my kitchen is red. I was in Wal-Mart today and saw a glitter glaze for walls. I am thinking of putting it on the walls of my daughter's "Tinker Bell" bedroom.

Sometimes when I'm making my own 20 gauge duck hunting loads I fill several cartridges with glitter in-lieu-of copper shot
and cap the magazine into sheeting I've line hung as tree stand weather cover. Silver glit' looks remarkably like dew.

add the red glitter and blast it into the bedroom walls. Please
be advised that a fire extinguisher should be handy if sparks
from exploding gunpowder fly also. Of course everyone else
in earshot will immediately come to a conclusion something other than your 'painting' is in progress. Save one shell case
for whoever comes knocking; they'll appreciate having a red
glitter load as proof. Don't greet them holding smoking gun.
Lowes sells glitter in packets made for paint. It is a ultra fine glitter and they only have it in gold. It creates a nice subtle effect.
If you try to use regular glitter in paint it will not work. Normal glitter is to heavy and becomes coated with the paint and you will only end up with bumpy walls..
Lowes is the only place I have found this glitter, I checked Sherwin Williams and they don't carry it. Maybe a hobby or craft store has ultra fine glitter in other colors.
Another cool paint technique is Ralph Lauren's candlelight glaze also available at Lowes. It has a slight iridescent tint, (like stripes on roads and signs) so it changes colors and effects as your lighting changes during the day.
One more PS red is the hardest color to paint and get an even finish. Good luck
