Opinions please?
Question:I just got offered a paid job from my aunt, who works at a bedding/mattress store. I draw and color pictures which she uses to create a theme for a "spotlight" bed set, complete with sheets, pillowcases, etc. My work gets sold with the set, to be used in the bedroom with the bed. But, I'm having a hard time deciding what to do for my first work. It has to be impressive!

What a unique job! It sounds great. I like botanical prints. I just saw a magazine with the most beautiful green prints of banana leaves, ferns, grasses and trees. You might start with something in the green pallet and see how that goes. It seems that pastels and flowers are out and the new thing is all the wonderful earth-tone colors. Have a great time at this job!
Pick the bedclothes out that will be "spotlighted" and use the colors, designs for inspiration. There is no way to ask someone else to decide what to do for your first picture! You're the artist.
Try a flower pattern. something like this,

Thats what I would buy a nice flower pattern. :)
A lot would depend on the style of theme she wants to create. I would try to find a way to combine some of the colors used in the bedding. You just need to take creative license and start painting. You may need to change canvasses in the middle of the job, but it is your work and it reflects your name as well as that of your aunt's store.
Landscapes are always nice and so are flowers...but you could even go abstract if she has wild and crazy colors in the theme.
Use your imagination...Turn yourself loose!
Good Luck!
