OPINION NEEDED on sense of style?
Question:I'm in dire need to paint my kitchen. I need someone's opinion on .. What color should i paint it? Its walnut cupboards, brown/black/tan/white counter top (looks like a granite design) and stainless steel appliances.
What color should I paint my walls?
THANK YOU!
Answers:
Various shades of beige with some ooomph (see Sherwin Williams "Wheat Grass") can look very crisp and fresh, and could work well with the dark cabinets and black counters. A green (see Sherwin Williams "Baize Green") could be fabulous too, but greens can be tricky because the same one can look fabulous and cadaverous as the light changes through the day.
Paint companies have online tools to play with to try to visualize how it will work. But sometimes it is easier to go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a quart to test.

if it has a lotta natural sunlight coming in then you can go for a rich color. otherwise something simple is good e.g. "kansas grain" by benjamin moore
Hi there!
Well, I think it should be a rich tan color. Then you can hang classy and elegant black framed pictures of black and white photos of food and wine and grapes or something similar on empty spaces on there.
Or, you could go with something a little more daring and have it be a spciy maroon color with the same pictures and frames. It should also match your dishes and tablecloth and accesorries on the kitchen counter such as napkin holders, flowe vases, hand towels, and so on.
Good Luck!!!
well ,do you like yellow? .try painting one of the walls yellow , let the sun shine thru ,
grasshopper, lime or cucumber green
Dark cabinets & counter needs a light shade for walls. I disagree with greens or tans suggested. A dark beautiful wood cabinet can give a 'mossy' appearance with greens in close proximity depending on the lighting. It also sounds as if you have plenty of browns that you don't need tan walls to add additional brown tones. Yellow was suggested which can be attractive in some kitchens, but I think the whole room would leap out at you with the dark wood. Nothing was mentioned on your floor color/style, but:
I would suggest a mauve. Depending on what accent colors you may have. I would also consider a wall paper border near ceiling that would have mauve, maroon, tan & perhaps some green in that to tie it all together. In my kitchen I also spread a few fake vines near the border (using cup hooks) but only above the cabinets & then placed antique kitchen items on top of those cabinets: old coffee pots, crockery bowls with old rolling pin sticking out of bowl & antique masonery jars with a few sprigs of vine hanging on their sides.
I would go for a cream or a cappuccino light brown color. :-)
Lavender
your kitchen sounds similar to ours. we have sage green on our walls and we love it.
