How do I install paneling on my ceiling over plaster?

Question:Our ceiling looks outdated due to the plaster being slightly cracked. I would prefer to just cover it with wood paneling. I know it can be done, but I'm not sure how to do it without causing the plaster to crack and fall. Any ideas?

Answers:
No matter how you do it some plaster is going to crack and fall, the plaster is very old as sheet rock first shows up around
1954 or so.
You will have to find out which direction the floor joist for the up stairs are going. Then you will have to nail or screw if you have a screw gun, not easy hammering upside down, 1x3 furring strips at right angels to the floor joist placing them 16" apart on center This is the easy part. Next if you are going to use wood paneling I would suggest that you put panel glue, that is the name of it, follow the directions on the tube of glue, on the furring strips that you are going to cover with the first panel. I would also suggest to place a few panel nails in the paneling , there are as a rule ridges that will match up with the furring strips.. Place the panels if possible at right angels to the furring strips.
