Question:I totally want to redo my room and i was wondering what i could do to spice it up. its like an 8ft by 9ft space and i want to make the walls cool and i am open to any ..ideas.. ..suggestions.. ..links..?
anything that's like crafty and cool with music as my theme
Answers:
Paint the walls dark blue. Add a stereo system, get a bed that has a headboard made of black iron/metal, and get a medium blue rug to lighten up the room a bit.
If you go to www.pbteen.com u can find a lot of cool stuff. it is a little expensive, but you can use it to find ideas. I personally like the large posters that cover an entire wall. they have many different styles like surfing, beach, and snowboarding. You could also paint your room a cool color like aqua. this would be interesting as well as fun. Just make sure you dont paint your room a dark color. This will make your room look smaller. hope this helps.
start with lightly drawn by pencil then paint solid later . . .
draw what appears as sheet music with the lines, symbols & notes. The musical notes & lines could continue across the door. Perhaps notes to the beginning of a real song that you enjoy. If have a musical instrument (guitar), hang it up high on a rack. Be creative, you also have a ceiling as your painting or creative canvass. There is also paint that glows in the dark. I have seen one room someone painted Garfield & Odie playing instuments. Garfield was in a tree that was from floor to ceiling and large branch past corner of room onto the neighboring wall with Odie down below.
In your case less is more with the size of room you have. At least we have a theme. Anything dark will make the room appear smaller, but with music being the theme, why not black and white notes. I know white is not easy to handle, (with bleach you can use white) not stack white, do white as the main and black to contrast as white/black sheets with red accents. IKEA has lots of fun decorative inexpensive stuff. You can also buy materials from the fabric store and cut out musical notes, put in a poster frame, you can do stencil of notes on the wall by the headboard. How old are you? You don't want it to look like a little boy's room. or cream and black that looks very rich and in good taste. When the ceiling and the walls are all painted the same it gives a continuity to the room without breaking. Visualize how show rooms are presented. Its all in the presentation my dear.
hi... i have some guidelines for u... i hope you'll find them good...
1. music theme: mmmmm... the starting point could be choosing your favorite band's poster, or an instrument u may have or obtain, or music-themed bedding or rug... just take the colors from them and distribute them in the room... the first answer contained a cool site, but the idea of a large poster is ok but will make your room look even smaller!
2. you can paint musical things on the walls only if you want to (some suggestions were nice), but you can also just do the theme by using all the accessories related to your theme... be creative choosing your accents, but avoid clutter cos u have a small room... also avoid too many colors... 3 maximum...!
3. colors... if u need a cool atmosphere with your musical theme, go for colors like blues or greens or blue greens (like turquoise) or all of them together... if u don't like these colors choose neutrals like gray, beige, or off-white colors, but not alone as it will be boring...! choose light colors for they'll expand your room... use mirrors... avoid Strong contrast, not so good in a small room and not cool...!
4. choose fluorescent light, but if u don't like it or u find it harsh then go for white incandescent light... much better!
best of luck with your room... have fun!
