I am moving house - where can I find free boxes?
Question:
Answers:
I have moved a few times. The most popular places I've found are:
Moving company's always have boxes for purchase, these are more for clothes, and specialty boxes.
Other places to consider for sturdy boxes:
Local grocery store, fast food restaurants such as Burger King, McDonald's if you talk with the manager, they will generally assist as long as they don't have to hold them for a long time. Department stores Wal-Mart, K-Mart etc. if you know anyone that works there, generally they will assist as they usually break them down and compact them.
Good Luck with the move.
try freecycle.org. A lot of moving boxes change hands on my local freecycle.
I usually stop by the local McD's or fast food joint and ask if they could save their french fry boxes. I'll stop by at the end of the day and pick them up. They have always been nice enough to do so, and they are a good size.
the supermarket, ask them in this day of recycling i,m sure they,ll be only to glad to give you them
Go to the Supermarkets,Warehouses and even some wholesalers if you ask them they help you with empty boxes the ones they are not using I am sure they will give you free or charge.
The best boxes to get are from the LCBO which are very sturdy and usually the cleanest. In case you don't live in Ontario they are Liquor and Wine boxes. Just make sure they are all clean or you may be taking some little beasties to your new location.
goodluck on this one... alot of places are not selling or giving away their old boxes anymore, because they can brake them down and then sell them back to certain companies. the companies that are buying the boxes back, are recycling them to make new boxes.
the only suggestion i have is to try small stores or maybe if you know someone that works at a store like a family member or friend. they could probably be able to get you some boxes for free.
goodluck
