Dado rail...?

Question:how do you put dado rails up. is it a lot of work?

Answers:
Hello...i put my own dado rail up, and if i can do it anyone can.I used a mitre block to cut it and i put it up with no nails, and believe me its going no where lol.Its rock solid and it looks nice.Make sure you use a level, i just used the level and went round the room with it and drawn a pencil line and went off that.job done.Good luck.

dado rails arent cool anymore. dont waste your time.

if you must, the simplest way these days is to buy a cheap laser level to mark the room up. start at one end and work all the way round the room, check the start and end points are level before fixing it to the wall
no it's quite easy if you follow a straight line. use no nails glue and tack it with small nails, wholes can then be filled with wood filler, either paint or stain. we have them in our house saves a fortune on boarders, and full length wall papering is easier.
You shld use No-nails, much better than screws. Simply measure a stright line all round the wall at the required height. Cut the dado rail using an angled saw, put plenty of no-nails on the back of the dado rail and tyhen press firmly along the line you have drawn. You'll probably need a freind to help you and also a few small nails abnged lightly into the wall underneath to hold it up whilst the no-nails is setting.
It's not hard I used spirt level then my hubby put some small tacs or u could use no nails, it looks really nice when its up worth doing
Pin and Glue (no nails adhesive) your Dado true and level round the room. You must be gluing to the plaster not to any wall paper. Don't worry if the pins stick out, just remove them when the glue is dry.
Start with a level line about 50mm below height of dining chairs. use a proprietary fixant like' no more nails'. cut any mitres (that's 45 degrees) attach longest length to wall opposite door ensuring dado is level with spirit level. work way around room to door. Clean any excess fixative according to manufacturers instructions.
bear in mind that in future years it will have to be removed if you want whole lengths of wallpaper. the fixative is likely to remove plaster.
If its not for protection against chair backs you may want to break the wall up with a decorative horizontal paper strip they are inexpensive and are easily changed to suit seasons or curtains etc. Good luck
Don't do it you will get bored with them like me.They are a bit "old hat" now. Thats my opinion.
