What's the best way to display a silk scarf on a wall?
Question:I want to hang a decorative silk scarf on a painted plaster wall in my daughter's bedroom. What would be the best way to ensure I don't damage the scarf or the wall? I don't want to frame it.
Answers:
I'm not an expert, but I've hung a scarf on a wall using a dowl. I folded a small portion of one end of the scarf over a dowl and tacked it with a single stitch on each end. Then, using fishing line, invisible, I hung the dowl on the wall with one small nail. It's a silk scarf and hangs nicely, and you can't see the fishing line.
small tacks, minimal damage.
Get a small shelf and drape it.
velcro dots
or
find an antique wooden clothes hangar, drape the scarf on it.
if u don't want to frame it to protect it... then u could pin it around a foam core board. It's what we would do b/4 we frame it & the same tecnique for crosstitch designs.
Purchase a ACID FREE foamcore board from a Frame shop... they should cut it for u as well. Measure the scarf to give it room to put the scarf around the edges of the board. Then purchase pins & start on one side in the middle ...pin.. then do the opposite side ..pin...then finish it off. U can also purchase f/c hangers. U mite also ask at the frame shop. They may give u one or sell u one.
That would b the best way I could tell u 2 do it w/o damaging the scarf.
Take a dowel and make a slit in it to slide the scarf in. It wil not damage the scarf and you can use nail brads(super small) to set the dowel on.
