What to do with HUGE master bedroom ceiling?
Question:we just got a house which has really tall ceilings in the master bedroom. We have a platform bed and hubby hates canopies or four poster beds of any kind.
What can I do to make the space look more scaled?
Answers:
A really large picture over the bed..
or a low hanging ceiling fan will take some the the height away.
You can also try painting the ceiling the same color as the walls..so it does not stand out as much
Paint it a much darker shade than the rest of the walls in the room.. like a burgundy or something, depending on what your color scheme is. It'll pull the room together and I think give it a more cozy feeling.. as in not too big. That's trendy and simple.
Put in large dressers, room dividers, maybe even some cornice moldings where the wall meets the ceiling. The bigger the moldings, the more the room shrinks.

I would install hanging light fixtures, maybe even 3 of them staggered at different lengths hanging down... smaller fixtures with decorative chains.
