Advise about decorating my room?

Question:i have the box room in my house and it has built in wardrobes and bunk beds so as you can imagine it is really small so i want to redecorate. i was thinking about removing the wardrobes and bunk beds and replacing them with a single bed, single wardrobe, chest of drawers and a bedside locker, all in very dark brown wood with a light chocolate and turquise painted wallpaper in a thick horizontal stripped design wih the turguise colour thicker than the brown. the floorboards are currently exposed because the carpet was removed quite a while ago when i planned to replace it but never got around to it but now i am planning to take up the floorboards, sand them and stain them a darkish brown (but not as dark as the furniture). it sounds like it would be very dark but i was going to brighten it up with bright coloured accosories like a bright blue blind for the window, lamp/lampshade and bright blue and/or white bedsheets

what do you think??
any suggestions??

cheers

Answers:
do what you are doing with the colours but you need to keep the colour to maybe one wall - if the room is small this will only make it feel more claustraphobic ifused all over - maybe use one feature wall for the colours and then use a complimentary neutral on the others , and keep the flooring neutral too - go for a quality wool or polyprop carpet if you can in a creamy white to lift and compliment the scheme - use the colourful accessory's but remember less is more in a small room

Just nail the door shut and forget about it.
I have the box room in our house too and I think that lighter colours are better as they make the room seem bigger. My furniture is a light coloured wood too (can't remember which). I woud also recommend that you get a rather large mirror too as that can make your room seem bigger. You're colour scheme sounds nice though.

Have fun decorating :)
I would not go with real dark wood. Lighter makes a room look bigger. I also would not take up the floorboards. Whatever you do to them, they can remain where they are.
Think about a rug where you hop out of bed, maybe blue and turquoise.
are you colour blind or depressed
Good ideas.

Think about a bunk bed that is only the top bed, and under it, is a desk and chair.

Add a big mirror for the look of space
Dark colours will make the room look even smaller. I would paint the room in one light colour. A large mirror will bounce the light around the room. Try a Futon bed instead of a single bed.that way it can act as a small settee. Roman blinds will not block out the light unlike curtains at either side of the window. Clutter makes a room a lot smaller looking.
It's really nice, but I think that it has too much vibrant blue in it. Try going with a softer green some of the time, or a white.
Good idea the change of furniture, but i would go for a lighter wood and do the walls a light colour but one colour, as it will make the room look bigger. It would be better doing your walls lighter and adding the blue accessories. You could even line the walls with plain lining paper and emulsion them.I would go for cream or even white, or one of those colours with a hint of another colour.Do the floor a light wood too and you could add a rug to match the accessories.Hope ive helped a little.
