Hello I need to have some ideas on what kind of curtains or themes are men liking for interior decorating?
Question:I have been asked to obtain ideas on how to decorate my boyfriends townhouse- what colors and themes do the men like and go for now? Men and women may answer this one? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi. I have had the same problem. We moved into a new house and my husband really let me choose what I wanted for decorating. However, I always ran it by him and found what he liked - since he had to live there too!
Here was his choices and what he liked that we did:
1. wooden floors (we had real polished Australian spotted gum hardwood floors put in).
2. big art (I bought canvases and looked in books and on the internet with him - found pictures we both liked - Australian gum blossoms in modern style - gum leaves etc. and I painted them simply and bold and huge).
3. dark furniture and rich blues (we bought cheap pine furniture and stained it a beautiful dark wood color. Our sofa is slate blue and has cream and darker blue pillows and a home made patchwork throw rug in blues and chocolates and lemons).
4. african style (my husband has good friends in Sth Africa and loves their style of art etc. I bought modern style african statues of mothers nursing their children and families - wall hangings and a tall black lamp with real owl feathers around it)
5. owls (he loves them - he has a shelf in his study - a floating shelf - with heaps of little owls on it and a painting I did of a funny owl behind in a dark wooden frame).
6. Dark stuff - he loves black and chocolate colors - so I used black curtain rods and rich chocolate curtains. I have dark wooden venetian blinds on my windows. I compensate for his love of "dark" colors with accents of light cream colored walls and cushions and paintings. We have dark chocolate curtains that look rich and delicious (they were only $2 at a bargain store!)
So, he seems to like the natural woods, the blues and earthy tones - I have lots of wooden bowls with big river pebbles and chunky candles. He loves having friends over and they always comment on how beautiful our home is. I refuse to have non-original art work. Even my bathroom has a painting made by my little boy on a cheap canvas. Of little ducks splashing in a pond.
None of this cost much (except the wooden flooring of course - $10,000 !)
hope you get some ideas you really like.
I would suggest you BOTH look at the HGTV website. I think Candace Olson has some great designs.
