Where do you find the best deals on furniture?
Question:My husband and I are about to close on our first home. We are going to buy our own furniture for the first time! The thing is, I have no idea where to look to find the best deals! Also, we don't have a huge budget to work with. What types of stores give you the best deals on furniture? In furniture stores, can you talk them down on prices? I don't even know where to start!!

Getting the most for your money is going to depend largely on where you live and what stores are in your area. Also the budget or amount of money you have to spend will affect the quality of the furniture you can afford. I know it seems cliche' but when it comes to furniture you really do get what you pay for. For example theres going to be a large difference between a $600 leather sofa and a $3000 leather sofa, most of my clients have a hard time distinguishing this. This is why the sales rep. is there, I encourage you to purchase from a store where the reps. can advise you in your decision.
As for a store that sells quality at a reasonable price. The store I own does just that but its unlikely we are in your area. In the south and midwest theres Laks Furniture, The Roomstore, Bel Furniture, Finger Furniture, Badcock Home Furnishings. On the east coast and up north there is Haverty's Furniture, and many more.
Keep in mind that discount stores like Wal-mart, Big-lots, and IKEA often will have a very attractive price, maybe even the best price but much of what they sell is low quality and is not built to withstand the test of time. My advice stay with trusted brands like Lane, Broyhill, Berkline, Thomasville, etc. Best of luck.
JC Penny has a huge sale right now (20%-50% off). Solid wood furniture is half price. I personaly don't buy junk furniture, all my furniture is solid wood. Go on JC Penny's web site and click on furniture, you will be amazed at their prices as well as at the quality.
