YES, as long as there is no urethane on it and you'll use a slightly darker or darker stain, if urethane is on it you'll have to remove all by sanding or a liquid stripper. Some suggest to sand the stain out, it will never happen because stain is so thin the wood absorbs it too far into itself you'll never remove it all.
no let me explain why not , your cabinet is made from wood which is a porese surface , when it was stained the first time it soak in right down to about 1/4 inch.

It is really best to remove the old stain and especially any polyurethane that might be on there. Use a hand sander - it is so much easier and quicker. It will a take a little more work to sand it down but your result will be better in the end.
if your wanting to paint it you can keep the stain on just sand it down some then paint but to restain it you have to remove the old stuff in order for it to look good.
