New pine floors turning color?

Question:I recently had a new pine floor installed and polyurethaned (3 coats.) Now along the edges of several of the boards there are gray/black areas under the poly (sort of looks like mold.) What's going on here and how can I get rid of it without having to refinish these floors?

Answers:
sounds to me like the lumber was not died properly before you installed it. most likley it will have to be refinished, with the finish on it already the moisture in the boards cxannot escape. sand the fisnishe of and let it dry to at least 7% moisture before applyin the finish back

Some times the natural tannins in new pine floors will begin to show through and leave dark greyish streaks. Old Pine floors have time to age and darken. Pine will darken like cedar. Heart pine will stay truer to color.

In order to get rid of the dark color streaks the floor board or boards would need to be stripped . then you would have two options.#1) strip board, wet board to pop the grain then try bleaching the spot then re varnish with non yellowing poly.# 2) strip board, mix a paint (acrylic tube) to match as close as you can to the min pine tawny color then faux finish the stain or spot. In either case the board will need to be stripped and then re finished. Sorry.
