XL Twin Mattresses, Bedding, Dorm Rooms.?
Question:I'm going to college this fall and I've sent numerous emails to their housing department and they still have not answered. I want to know the standard size for dorm room mattresses, I understand that they are extra long twin, I just want the dimensions. I was also wondering where I could find some comforters and what not. I already know of JCPenney, Target, Linens 'n Things, The Company Store, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Walmart, and a few others. And also, can I fit a normal twin size comforter on the XL twin mattress? I heard I could do that, I just need the XL sheets. Thanks.
Answers:
You can use a normal comforter on the xl twin bed. The dimensions for the bed are a standard thing for xl beds. You should be able to go buy a set of xl sheets and have them fit.
the one thing I know about most xl sets is that the xl sheets will fit a standard twin or at least so I have heard I would imagine jersey knit ones would they are pretty elastic (and darn comfy) as far as the comforter standard twin should do just fine the only difference between twin and twin xl is the twin xl is longer
Fitted Sheet
Size: Twin - XL
Dimensions: 39" x 80" x 7"
39-by-75-inch fitted sheet is the regular twin so its only a difference of 5 inches you wont even notice that on the comforter or quilt for that matter
A standard twin mattress is about 38 x 75" while an extra long mattress is 80". When buying your sheets, keep in mind that most schools do not use pillow-top mattresses, so you do not need deep pocketed sheets.
You can use a standard twin comforter just fine on an xl mattress.
