I have an estimate for blinds/shutters tomorrow.what questions should I ask?
Question:I am not sure if I want all blinds or blinds on the smaller windows and shutters on the larger ones...any thoughts? Thanks!

Keep in mind that shutters are like doors on the window. When you want to open them, they have to go somewhere. And, shutters usually take more to install as they are hinged.
How each room is used should be considered when deciding on the type of window treatment. e.g. Do you need black out in a bedroom for a day sleeper? Do you need privacy or heat control? Do you have a wonderful view?
All the treatments in one room should usually be the same.
Ask about the "bottom up/ top down" feature. This is my personal favorite and is available in slatted blinds and pleated shades. This allows you to lower the shade from the top to get light and/or view while retaining privacy on the lower part. You can still raise them all the way from the bottom too. It costs extra, but is well worth it! You might ask if the company that makes their treatments ever runs a special on that feature. If you're not in a big hurry for the treatments, it might be worth the wait.
Make sure that you get professional measuring and installation. Have them measure all the windows you might want to buy treatments for even if you're not ready to do them all now. A reputable company will want to do it that way so they can have your measurements on file. That way, they can help you plan your budget and be sure that you get the window treatments you need for each room in your home. Ask about warranties.
High quality blinds and/or shades in neutral colors will serve you well. By adding fabric window toppers, valances, side panels etc. you can easily change the room without changing the blinds/shades.
Good luck with your window treatment project!
ask them to price out both options, ask them if installation is included and if they have local references. Call a couple former customers and see if they are happy with the installation job and the cost.
Figure out if you want them opening to the right or to the left. If you want wands or cords to open and close them. If you want wood or vinyl and which is better for bathrooms.
I got white wooden shutters for the master bath and all bedrooms and blinds everywhere else. You want to keep out that Texas heat.
I used the manufacturer that Wilshire homes uses in their model homes, it was a very good decision and helped sell my house in just one day. I could see the craftmanship and way the shutters closed on the magnetic locks.
Make sure if any are for bedrooms you use "room darkening" blinds. I made the mistake of not doing that, and wow, the sun comes up awful early this time of year!!
Good luck!
