What's the difference between a California King sized bed and a regular king sized bed?

Question:I want to purchase comforter sets but not sure what the difference in dimensions are.

Answers:
California King 72" x 84"
King 76" x 80"
Queen 60" x 80"
Full ("double") 53" x 75"
Twin 38" x 75"

California King is wider across (the width) not too big head to toe and a Standard King is longer from the head to the foot. I have a standard king pillow top. I LOVE IT
California King size bed is longer.
