What is the best/easist way to paint diagonal stripes on my son's walls?
Question:
Answers:
Paint all the area the lighter color. Then tape off the diagonal lines with tape and paint with the darker color. Peal off the tape before it dries or it will peal some of the new paint off.
using painters tape! just measure and tape it off... simple as that... have fun
Measure accross the wall next to the ceiling and every 8 inches maybe place a tick mark with a pencil. Do the same thing at the base of the wall.
Using a long straight edge(maybe a string or a broom handle or a long board) connect one tick mark at the ceiling with one farther to the right at the base of the wall. Draw along the straight edge on the wall with a pencil.
Repeat at the next set of tick marks
oila!
Instant diagonal lines to paint along.
I'd ask at a home project/paint store where they sell paint and laser levelers because you'll need painters tape, and some kind of level so you get the correct angle of diagonal every time, when you go to put the tape on the wall.
Blue painter's tape, T-square, pencil and lots of patience. Wallpaper is of course, much easier.
I would paint the whole room the lighter of the colors that I will be using.
Let the paint dry good for a couple of days then put the strips on the wall with tape. It would be easiest if the stripes were no wider than the wides tape that you want to use.
Then just paint the whole room again & remove the tape as soon as the paint is dry
More than 2 colors take a lot more planning.
Using small tape on a piece of plywood or cardboard practice with your pattern.
Measure the wall and divide into equal portions Example 6 stripes 18''wide each color 1 and 6 stripes 18''wide each color 2 Paint room the color 1 and let dry throughly Now start at one corner of the wall measure over 18" and apply masking tape from top of stripe to bottom keeping tape perfectly vertical.. go around room taping off stripes when all is taped paint color 2 inbetween taped area . removing tape when paint dries This is real nice if you use two tones of the same color one just a bit lighter than the other
