How can I get the black glue(very old) off hard wood floors. The easiest way please.?

Answers:
Paint thinner or acetone. Try a little nail polish remover, that's acetone, if it works for you, then purchase the acetone at either Home Depot or Lowes. Either one should not discolor the wood. You can use a scraper with either of these products to get your floor cleaned. I would not recommend a belt sander, or any sanding product it will turn to goo. You don't want to have to redo the entire floor

Home centers sell adhesive remover by the gallon pail, might try that. It can be scraped, no fun though. You might be able to sand it of with a belt or drum sander if it is hard instead of sticky.
Don't use paint thinner or acetone, it will remove the glue as well as the finish on the floor. Use goo off, goo gone or WD 40. Let sit for awhile and gently remove. You might have to do it in layers as not to damage the floor.
