Can you give me some information on how to waterproof some cardboard hatboxes?
Question:They are very pretty, and I don't want to change the way they look. I use them for storing and transporting hats, and sometimes for props at craft fairs. These boxes don't to have to stand up to driving rain. I just don't want them to be ruined by a few rain drops or snowflakes.
Answers:
Spray them with a clear coat of Polyurethane. Guaranteed to waterproof your hatboxes.
Sporting good stores sell some that weather-proofs tents, or fabrics, or even paper...i am having a senior moment at the moment, or i would tell you the name of it..
It does the job..i use it now and then on my stuff.
It's not all that expensive ether.
...rainguard..??.. aaa.weather-all..??
im sorry, i just have a brain fart going in
spray them with clear acrylic enamel, home depot.
You could try some clear lacquer or acrylic spray, can get at most hardware/home improvement stores. You can try the sealer spray (I think it's called Weather Guard, and there are others too) that they sell for fabrics like tents and stuff, but I don't know how well it will work on cardboard.
Get a can of each (they're not that expensive) and try them out on a couple of test boxes and see what happens.
Good luck.
Buy an aerosol can of sillicone spray. I use it on all manner of things. It sprays on clear, and you can buff it up if you want.
