How do i find out the outlining border for two adjacent properties?
Question:renting a first floor flat, the neighbour under my flat says the rear garden belongs to the bottom flat so i need to see the plans of the ground that comes with the top flat, where do i get this from?
Answers:
Sorry, but the garden always belongs to the ground floor flat.
You can check it out at the town hall, if you like, but you're wasting your time.
your local land registry office (council, town hall).
but as you are renting & if the landlord owns both flats, ask your landlord.
from your landlord or planning department at the local council
you need the deeds of the property that will be held at your solicitors if you own the house and if it is rented then they will be at your landlords solicitor.
if council you just need to go into there office and ask them as they have it on computer - it could cost you £10 to do this but no more.
The deeds won't help you here, I'm afraid. What they'll show is the bounds of the property in its entirety, i.e the house and gardens. It is usual for the garden to accompany the ground floor flat, but that's at the landlord's discretion. Sometimes it's on a communal basis. You'll need to check your lease/rent agreement and if that isn't clear check with the landlord.
