Which is more comfortable futon or mattress bunk beds?

Question:We our buying our kids bunk beds. The bottom one converts into a couch position. Because of this it is obviously not a regualar mattress, it's an imitation mattress, so it has coil like things inside but it is actually a futon. It feels comfortable on the display, but will it be over time? Or does the folding mechanims have problems over time?

Answers:
You can buy a seperate "real" spring mattress / futon. A bit pricey compared to what you may be getting - but will last for quite awhile.

Generally its a comfort thing for your kid

futons are very uncomfortable!! The mattress wears out fairly quick and you will feel every rail when you lay on it.
Futons are the cotton or foam mattresses that are flexible and which can be folded easily. You can use them either as mattresses or as couches. They originated in Asia but have gained popularity around the world. Depending on whether you want to use the futon as a couch, a bed or both, there are wide varieties of styles available in the market. These mattresses come in different sizes. A futon can last anywhere from 2 to 10 years as per their quality.
