Theme for my bedroom-antique?
Question:im 13 and i was thinking that this theme would last for a long time and i wouldnt grow out of it. my idea was like black and white movie posters and an antique looking vanity and a white antique sorta daybed. the walls would be either white or cream to make the room look bigger and if i go with white i think a black and white color scheme would be good. wat do you think? any suggestions?
Answers:
First, consider what style of furniture you want. Classic styles are french provincial, art deco, Chippendale, Victorian, wrought iron, wicker and many more. The best place to find your furniture is local estate sales, antique shops and flea markets.
Since you are buying separate pieces of furniture, and not a suite, don't worry about the condition. You can paint furniture for very little cost, time or effort.
Pick your colors to accent the black and white. Do you want bright primary colors, subdued shades or pastels? You colors can help determine your style.
If you want shabby chic, pick pastels with darker tones (pink and burgundy for instance). This style uses alot of floral and plaid patterns.
For a more grown-up feel, I'd go with a Tuscan flair, using reds, deep yellows and golds, olive and khaki greens, and dark indigo blues. These colors would work well with an oatmeal colored paint. And movie posters would do well with these colors.
Use white or slightly off white paint. Black line drawing art works well and lack is a bold contrast. Use a third dramatic color for accent.
