Let me rephrase - Where can I find a ceiling fan that does not have the conventional horizontal blades?

Question:I don't want the conventional blades that stick out horizontally as I have very little space for that as my ceiling light fixture is very close to the wall. I am thinking something that works similarly to the thin floor fans that are cylindrical - they don't use conventional blades and they circulate air. I am just curious if any one has applied that kind of system to a ceiling fan that would hang more vertical in fashion. I saw the Purifan model with the Hempa filter but I was just wondering if there were anymore out there.

Answers:
Yes, the Purifan model with the hepa filter is the only system that I know of taking the place of the paddles. Good luck with your search. It is a great question as dust, etc. collects on regular ceiling fan blades. It is difficult when you have a low ceiling and your fixture is close to the wall.

Can you relocate your electrical box closer to the center of the ceiling?

they make ceiling mounted ( NO POLE) ceiling fans with light fixture, takes up less that 6-10 inckes
i know @ lowes they have a small ( i believe 18" total) ceiling fan
